Just recently, my aunt renovated her house specifically her doors and windows. A friend advised her to install more windows in her house to save energy and to imbibe brightness on her abode. I helped my aunt canvass for materials to be used in making the windows. We also scanned home improvement magazines to have an idea of what her windows and doors would look like.
She also plans to repaint her house after the doors and windows are done. She wants a brighter color to replace the previous light blue paint. I was kinda surprised when she chose light blue as the house’s major color because it was so dull. It is an opposite of her personality – she being a jolly and active person.

My mom plans to build kitchen cabinets in our kitchen to save space. More and more appliances are added and installed into our kitchen so we will be needing more space for them. We didn’t hire someone to do the job so we are all contributing into building those kitchen cabinets. I, my mom and my sister will go to the hardware and kitchen appliance stores to gather ideas on how our kitchen cabinets would look like. My dad and my brother will do the working. Us girls of course, will support them while doing the cabinets. 
The whole afternoon of Saturday and the morning of Sunday was spent by our family in doing the cabinets. Just a few finishing touches and painting, and the cabinets are good to go. But then tomorrow is the start of work week, so the kitchen cabinets will be finished by next week.

As a contributing writer in a Fashion Magazine, I always keep track of what’s hot and what’s not in the fashion world. I work for the magazine for almost three years now and so far so good. My editor lets me write what’s on my mind. Being a Fashion Magazine writer, I also need to be updated with the latest trend in fashion. Well not that I’m required to, but even when I was younger I made sure that what I wore is the latest trend. I have my own fashion statement, my friends would always say. In school, I was voted the most fashionable student for three consecutive years. And even in the company where I am working now, I was always nominated for being one of the fashionable employees, although I only won once. Sophia, the other writer, gets the award when I’m not the winner.
This job of mine is really a blessing to me. Two months from now, I’ll be flying to Paris – the fashion capital of the world. I was so lucky to be chosen by our magazine to cover the biggest fashion show ever to be held in the said city.

It’s a Saturday and there’s no office today, but I woke up early this morning because I’m excited to read the fashion magazine which I subscribed and is delivered to our house monthly. Of course I want to know what is the latest trend – be it in clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics and accessories. I always feel good whenever I wear the latest trends in fashion, so I keep myself up to date. I always make sure that I own at least piece of everything that’s in. Some may call it luxury, but I call it my necessity. I don’t know but it just makes me so happy. Even my mom tolerates my attitude towards this because she knows I find happiness in it. For as long as I don’t do bad to others, my mom once said, it’s okay to be luxurious as long as I have the resources.
Well, I really go gaga over fashion. I watch TV, I read my magazines and I browse the internet to keep myself updated. Half of my salary goes to buying clothes, accessories, shoes, etc. But of course I don’t forget to save the other half of my salary for my future and for other unexpected expenses. My mom taught me that.

When I was a little kid, I used to gather all my old clothes and my grandma’s excess cloth from dressmaking to design and make my own dress. My mom saw it one time and she said that I have a future in designing clothes.
So when I grew up and about to enter college, I took Fashion Design as my major. I so much enjoy my course because I really learned a lot. I also get to attend seminars and workshops in fashion designing. Not only that, I have already attended numerous fashion shows and have met some of the country’s top names in fashion. Our school trained us so much by making us join several inter-school competitions and even national contests in Fashion Design. I was so lucky that I won the national contest sponsored by the country’s most successful Fashion Designer. Because of winning that contest, I was the country’s representative in the International Fashion Design Competition. There are 19 countries that participated on the said contest. Luckily, I was selected to be part of the top eight. Although I did not win the first prize, it was still a very fulfilling achievement for me that I was able to introduce my creations to the whole world.

One of my favorite stores to visit every time I go to the mall is ‘Mango’. I love all of their designs because of their simplicity and elegance. I started collecting Mango blouses when I was 16. Now that I am 22, I have about twenty-six blouses my Mango. Next on my list is their watch. During my birthday last year, a friend gave me a Mango watch as a gift and liked it so much. So now my next collection will be their wrist watch. I bought one for myself on my first pay check. I now have three Mango watches, the third one I got from the promo of a credit card company.
I’m becoming so addicted to Mango that I want other things to collect from the brand. My next plan is to collect their bags. But I have to work double-time to afford them. Maybe my next salary would still go to the store. If you visit my bedroom, you would instantly say that I am a big Mango fan. It’s like my room is defined by Mango blouses and watches, even their paper bags were displayed on my room.

It’s Friday and there’s no school tomorrow. But we have a research paper to be passed next week so my classmate Anne will spend that Friday night in my room to finish the paper together. Anne noticed that my room is dim and it’s because of the lights that I use which is and incandescent bulb. Anne advised me to use fluorescent lamp instead of what I am currently using. Besides the fact that it gives a much brighter light, it also saves energy compared to the incandescent bulb. That same night, I asked my brother to buy me a fluorescent light to replace the one in my room.
My mom, realizing that all the bedrooms in our house including the bathroom downstairs, have incandescent bulbs as light, asked my brother also to purchase some more fluorescent lamps for the said rooms.
